Cameroon now requires FIMEX registration or Special Import Authorization for ECTN issuance on RO-RO vehicle shipments effective May 1, 2025.

New ECTN Guidelines for RO-RO Shipments to Cameroon

New Requirement for RO-RO Shipments

The Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) has announced a new requirement for Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) issuance for RORO vehicle shipments, effective May 1, 2025.

In addition to standard documentation, shippers must now provide:

  • Proof of registration in the Importers/Exporters File (FIMEX), OR
  • A valid Special Import Authorization

Process Update

Shippers can continue to initiate their ECTN requests from the port of loading. A draft ECTN will be issued initially. However, the validated ECTN will only be released once the required FIMEX registration or Special Import Authorization documentation is submitted.

This approach allows you to launch requests in advance and mitigate delays from regularization procedures.

Key Recommendation

Ensure all documents are in proper order ahead of time to prevent cargo processing delays.
