Chad ECTN Procedure
As outlined in a Decree issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure of the Republic of Chad on January 18, 2013, an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) is mandatory for all shipments destined for Chad.
All stakeholders—including importers, exporters, and carriers—must comply with this regulation. Customs officers at discharging ports will inspect each shipment only when accompanied by a valid ECTN.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Shipments lacking an ECTN or BSC (Booking Shipping Certificate) face severe penalties:
- Significant shipping delays
- Demurrage levies and fines
- Cargo seizure
- Fines equal to 100% of goods value imposed on carriers
Required Action
Shippers, exporters, and freight forwarders worldwide must:
- Obtain a validated ECTN number through an online platform
- Submit all required shipping documentation
- Ensure compliance before shipment departure
