Nigeria SONCAP Certificate
SONCAP is Nigeria’s mandatory product-conformity programme for regulated imports. Unlike a cargo tracking note, it certifies that your products meet Nigerian safety and quality standards before they ship — and it is required to clear regulated goods at Nigerian ports.
What is the SONCAP?
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) requires a SONCAP Certificate for a defined list of regulated products. It is issued in two stages: a Product Certificate (PC) confirming the goods meet the applicable standards, and the SONCAP Certificate (SC) issued per shipment. Non-regulated goods may qualify for an exemption, which we confirm for your cargo.

FAQ
Is SONCAP the same as an ECTN?
No. SONCAP is a product-conformity certificate proving goods meet Nigerian standards, not a cargo tracking note. Nigeria uses SONCAP (and, separately, an ICTN for cargo tracking).
Which goods need a SONCAP Certificate?
A defined list of regulated products (electrical, mechanical, automotive, chemical and others). We confirm whether your specific goods are regulated or exempt.
When must SONCAP be obtained?
Before the goods are shipped. The SONCAP Certificate is issued per shipment and must be presented for customs clearance in Nigeria.
