Does the origin country affect whether I need a waiver?
No. The requirement is set by the destination country, not the origin. Any sea shipment to a covered destination needs its waiver, regardless of where it loads.
What happens if I ship without the required waiver?
Cargo arriving without a valid waiver typically faces customs clearance delays, storage and demurrage charges, and regulatory fines until a valid certificate is presented — and some countries enforce this at loading, blocking the shipment entirely.
When should the waiver be obtained?
Before the vessel arrives at destination, and ideally before it departs the load port. Validation takes about 3–6 hours once documents are correct.
